Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Easter Hat Parade
Our students love the annual Easter hat parade because it is a fun and creative event that allows them to express their imagination and celebrate Easter together. The parade also creates a joyful and inclusive atmosphere where students can share their excitement with friends, teachers, and family members. Participating in the parade fosters a strong sense of community and school spirit, making it a memorable and eagerly anticipated tradition each year.
Harmony Day
Our students enjoy Harmony Day because it celebrates diversity and brings everyone together in a spirit of inclusion and respect. On this special day, they get to learn about different cultures through fun activities, food, music, and storytelling, which makes school more exciting and meaningful. Harmony Day encourages students to appreciate what makes each person unique, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging. It also promotes kindness and understanding, helping students feel safe and supported in their school community.
Books in Homes
Books in Homes is a wonderful program dedicated to fostering a love of reading among students by providing them with free books to build their own home libraries. This initiative plays a vital role in supporting literacy development and encouraging lifelong learning. Our school is grateful for the generous support from Quarry Mining, whose contributions have made it possible for us to participate in the Books in Homes program.
NAIDOC Week Celebrations
NAIDOC Week is a vital celebration that honours the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It provides an important opportunity for our school community to recognise and respect the enduring connection of Indigenous Australians to the land, their stories, and traditions. By participating in NAIDOC Week activities, students and staff deepen their understanding of Indigenous heritage, promote reconciliation, and foster inclusivity and unity. Celebrating NAIDOC Week not only strengthens our appreciation of Australia’s First Nations but also inspires us to work together towards a more respectful and equitable future for all.
Book Week Celebrations
Our Book Week parade is a wonderful annual celebration that brings immense joy and excitement to our students each year. It’s a vibrant and creative event where students get to dress up as their favourite book characters, sparking imagination and a love for reading. The parade not only showcases the diverse stories and authors that inspire our school community but also fosters a strong sense of togetherness and school spirit. Each year, the enthusiasm and creativity on display make the Book Week parade a highlight of the school calendar, encouraging students to explore new books and develop a lifelong passion for literature.
GRIP Leadership Conference 2026
Student leaders and representatives of the Junior AECG from our school had the opportunity to attend the GRIP Leadership Conference. Through engaging workshops and activities, our students learned how to lead with confidence, communicate effectively, and inspire their peers. The conference was an excellent experience that empowered our young leaders to make a positive impact within our school and community.
Diderjibone Performance
As part of our cultural education program, students recently enjoyed a captivating Didjeribone performance by Tjupurru. Combining traditional sounds with modern technology, Tjupurru showcased the unique Didjeribone instrument - a fusion of didgeridoo and trombone. The performance was both entertaining and educational, providing students with an appreciation of Indigenous Australian music and culture. Tjupurru's engaging style and interactive presentation inspired our students, deepening their understanding of musical creativity and cultural heritage.
Whole School Assembly: Reconciliation Week 2026
Today, our school leaders led an assembly highlighting the importance of Reconciliation. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026, "All In," invites every Australian to actively commit to reconciliation every single day. Achieving true reconciliation demands the dedication and effort of us all.
Inclusive Education: BOCCIA Tournament
Congratulations to our Boccia team for securing first place in the School Sport Unit Boccia competition held in Maitland! Students from Beresfield and Black Hill Public Schools were unstoppable as a team.
It was fantastic to see our students demonstrating the Beresfield Way with great effort, outstanding sportsmanship, and impressive skill throughout the event.
Our team will now advance to the state finals next term at Sydney Olympic Park:
Let’s keep cheering on these talented students as they prepare to represent our region on the state stage
"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.”— a parent of Beresfield Public School
